Welcome to Yoga Meditation Benefits! My intent is to have this site become a gathering place for like-minded individuals who are also interested in improving their physical health and wellness while achieving spiritual benefits through yoga meditation techniques.yoga meditation benefits

I’m currently a physician practicing in the upper mid-west. A big part of my own motivation for establishing this website is to both teach and also to learn more about some of the many non-traditional ways of maintaining and improving our health naturally through yoga meditation techniques.

I’ll be sharing and commenting on news articles related to yoga meditation that I come across which I feel are both timely and informative. I will be posting on a pretty frequent schedule (about every other day) while covering a broad selection of topics related to both yoga and meditation. For instance, I’ll be writing about such things as yoga diet, yoga meditation techniques, and yoga healing.

I’ll also be supplementing stand alone pages to this site over time. These will be short, in-depth articles covering specific topics relevant to yoga and meditation. Book and video reviews and recommendations will also be found here.

Lastly, you might be wondering why I chose to name this site Yoga Meditation Benefits. Yoga has always been practiced as a means of preparing the body for meditation. The two have always been united. Only recently have we in the west artificially separated the two. Yoga is a movement meditation in and of itself, and thus flows naturally into meditation practices.

Russell Brand Contemplating Yoga Studio Startup

The famed comedian Russell brand is back in the news again. This time he’s announced he’s considering whether to open his own yoga studio in Los Angeles. One focus of the new studio is to make yoga available for free to people suffering from alcohol and drug addictions. Russell Brand credits his personal yoga instructor and his practice of yoga since 2002 with rescuing him from his own addictions. Here, Samantha Chang writing for the Examiner.Com describes the famed comedian’s involvement in his own yoga instructor training and future plans.

Russell Brand Contemplating Yoga Studio Startup

British comedian Russell Brand, a longtime vegetarian and yoga devotee, is considering opening a yoga studio in Los Angeles with the help of his instructor Tej Kaur.

“His teacher at Goldenbridge Yoga is in charge of teacher training at the center and has encouraged Russ to take the course,” a source told the Mirror. ”He ­decided to give it a go.

“Russell relies on Tej to bring ­calmness into his often crazy life. Once he’s finished his course next spring, he’ll set up his own studio in Los Angeles.”

While many famous celebrities can and have opened a yoga studio to capitalize on their fame, Russell Brand clearly seems to have loftier intentions. Mr. Brand apparently wants to pass the benefits he has received through yoga on to others similarly afflicted by drugs and alcohol dependency. Let’s hope he is successful in his venture should he decide to go ahead with it.
